Die groep viel in 1968 uit elkaar, maar geen woord in de krant over wat Doherty de afgelopen 39 jaar deed. Zei hij als iemand hem in 2004 aarzelend vroeg: "Denny Doherty? The name does ring a bell, help me out." "Sure. I was with Cass, Michelle and John in The Mamas and the Papas"? Trouwens ook geen woord in de krant dat hij voor "The Mamas and the Papas" met Richard Byrne en Pat LaCroix deel uitmaakte van "The Halifax Three" en met Cass Elliot (ook Mamas and Papas), Zal Yanovsky ("Lovin' Spoonful") en James Hendricks van "The Mugwumps".
