Maar eerst even terug naar 1926. Delage introduceerde dat jaar een achtcylinder met blower, in 'Motor Racing Facts and Figures' * van Rodney L. Walkerley lees ik: 'At San Sebastian** and later at Brooklands***, the exhaust pipes ran too close to the cockpit, heating the pedals to red heat and setting the floor boards on fire'. In het verslag van 1927 in hetzelfde boek staat dat de winnende Delages (nummers 1,2 en 3 bij de Franse Grand Prix) 'were a modification of the previous models with engines reversed to put the exhaust system on the other side of the cockpit'.
